About The Range NYC LLC Our story begins in early 2015 with Mike Doyle teaching simulator lessons in the back of a men’s clothing store in midtown Manhattan. As the demand for Mike’s lessons grew, Mike and student Jared Solomon started dreaming about an indoor facility where Mike could teach more lessons and golfers could work to improve their game — all while flipping standard golf culture on its head and appealing to everyone. With Mike and Jared clueless as to how to actually execute their grand idea, the final two co-founders, summer camp friends Nora Dunnan and Katherine Solomon (also Jared’s wife) entered the scene. With Nora operating the ship and Katherine navigating through some early legal storms, Five Iron Golf was launched and open for business in mid-2017. Five Iron has quickly re-shaped urban golf culture and has expanded from Manhattan to Chicago, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, growing from Mike’s original lesson crew to a re-imagined, high-tech, inclusive urban golf experience for golfers and non-golfers alike. Five Iron is for everyone. For the serious golfer, Five Iron hosts best-in-class simulators, Trackman lesson studios, access to teaching professionals, practice time, leagues, club storage, showers, top-of-the-line clubs that are free to use during your booking, and in-house club fitting services. For the less-than-serious golfer (and let’s be honest, most of the serious golfers too), Five Iron’s locations offer flexible event spaces, full bar service, fantastic food menus, games like ping pong, shuffleboard, pool, widescreen TVs, regular women’s events, a junior program, and much more.
The Range NYC LLC
An urban indoor golf experience using technology and unique design to make golf accessible, fun, and inclusive.
Responsibilities
- Five Iron Golf is the global leader in indoor golf and social entertainment. Founded in New York City in 2017 with a four-simulator setup, we now run 40+ corporate locations across the U.S., with venues in 20 states and 8 countries and dozens more in development.
- Every Five Iron is a full hospitality venue built around play. Guests come for tour-level Trackman simulators, professional instruction, Callaway club fitting, leagues, and memberships. They stay for scratch kitchens, full-service bars, private events, and multi-sport games, from Detroit Duckpin bowling to indoor-outdoor mini golf at our family entertainment concept in Shaker Heights.
- We're backed by partners including Callaway Golf and Danny Meyer's Enlightened Hospitality Investments, and we're opening new flagships, like our expanded Flatiron home in NYC, at a rapid pace. Every new venue needs a great team, and that's where you come in.
- The Social Recruiter owns full-cycle hiring for our Social (hospitality) teams at every corporate Five Iron location in the country. You'll fill everything from line cooks and dishwashers to General Managers of Social, and you'll be the person venue leaders call when they need great people fast.
- Back of house: line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, culinary leads, Executive Chefs, and Head Chefs
- Front of house: servers, bartenders, hosts, event staff, and Event Sales Managers
- Leadership: General Managers of Social, Assistant General Managers, and other venue leaders, including confidential searches and new-market openings
- You'll report to our Head of People and partner daily with GMs, Directors of Operations, Culinary leadership, and People Operations. This is a full-time, salaried, hyrbid role, with NYC-based candidates preferred. It includes travel to venues and openings as needed.
- Own the hiring pipeline, coast to coast
- Manage a high-volume portfolio of open roles across 40+ venues at once, from hourly FOH and BOH positions to salaried chef and leadership roles.
- Write and post job listings, source candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, culinary schools, and hospitality networks, and build pipelines ahead of need.
- Screen candidates, schedule interviews, and coordinate meet-and-greets, assessments, and final interviews with venue and regional leaders.
- Run reference checks and partner with leadership to build and extend competitive offers.
- Lead confidential and leadership searches
- Run confidential searches for General Managers, AGMs, and other venue leaders, including backfills that can't be posted publicly.
- Manage outside talent agency partners when a search calls for extra reach, such as in competitive markets like NYC.
- Plan onboarding for new leaders, including training rotations at sister venues before a public announcement.
- Staff openings and priority venues
- Build full hourly teams for new venue openings and relocations, working alongside on-site leaders to run hiring events and track interviews and hires.
- Identify and prioritize internal candidates, supporting promotions like line cook to culinary lead or EC to AGM.
- Flag at-risk roles early, line up backup candidates, and keep searches moving when a finalist withdraws or delays.
- Partner with and enable venue leaders
- Equip GMs to run their own hourly hiring, with clear processes for interviewing, verbal offers, and paperwork handoff to People Operations.
- Keep GMs, Directors of Operations, and Culinary leadership updated on pipeline status, start dates, and hiring risks.
- Write clear handoff plans so recruiting never stalls during PTO, leave, or role transitions.
- Track, report, and improve
- Keep your ATS and hiring trackers accurate, including requisitions, candidate stages, offers, and target start dates.
- Report on time-to-fill, pipeline health, and source effectiveness, and use the data to sharpen how and where we recruit.
- Represent the Five Iron brand in every candidate interaction, so the hiring experience feels as good as a night at one of our venues.
Qualification
Required
- 3+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience in hospitality, restaurants, or multi-unit entertainment, with a track record of high-volume hourly hiring.
- Experience recruiting both hourly FOH/BOH staff and salaried leaders such as chefs and General Managers.
- Comfort managing 30+ open requisitions across multiple markets and time zones at once.
- A working knowledge of restaurant operations: you know what makes a great line cook, bartender, or GM, and you can speak a chef's language.
- Strong organization and follow-through, with sharp attention to start dates, offer details, and handoffs.
- Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential searches and candidate information.
- Proficiency with an ATS (such as Paylocity, Harri, Workday, or similar) and with Google Workspace or Excel trackers.
- Clear, warm communication with candidates and leaders at every level.
- Willingness to travel to venues for openings and hiring events.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience working in a restaurant, bar, or entertainment venue.
- Experience staffing new restaurant or venue openings from the ground up.
- A network of culinary and hospitality talent in major markets like NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, or Detroit.
- Experience partnering with external recruiting agencies.
- A love of golf, sports, or competitive socializing (not required, but you'll fit right in).
- Real impact: you'll build the teams behind dozens of venues and openings, and you'll see your hires grow into leaders.
- Growth: we're scaling fast in the U.S. and abroad, which means new markets, new concepts, and room to grow your career with us.
- Perks: Health, dental, and vision insurance; short- and long-term disability; accident and critical illness insurance; a 401(k); and PTO.
