Responsibilities
- Build and improve operating processes. Understand how work happens today, identify recurring problems and create clear workflows for receiving, inventory movements, production handoffs, quality checks and fulfillment. Define who owns each step, what good work looks like and how exceptions get resolved.
- Put processes into practice. Create usable SOPs, checklists and trackers; test changes with the team; train people; gather feedback; and revise the process until it works consistently. Check adoption and results after rollout.
- Lead daily execution and develop the team. Set priorities, assign work, plan coverage, coach team leads and associates, and give clear feedback. Build accountability while helping people become more capable and independent.
- Keep inventory accurate and organized. Own receiving, storage, stock transfers, cycle counts and reconciliation. Investigate discrepancies, maintain clear product locations and keep physical stock aligned with system records.
- Run reliable fulfillment. Coordinate preparation, quality checks, packing and dispatch. Maintain shipping-label and documentation workflows, arrange pickups and resolve shipment exceptions.
- Coordinate production and movements between locations. Work with production leads on priorities, capacity and handoffs. Partner with logistics to manage shipments and inventory transfers between factories, warehouses, the storefront and studio—from pickup and shipping labels to delivery and confirmed receipt. Track quantities, destinations and timing, keep transfer records current, and resolve delays, shortages or discrepancies with carriers and receiving teams.
- Improve systems and measure performance. Use spreadsheets and existing inventory/order-management or ERP tools to make work visible. Track backlog, on-time shipping, inventory accuracy and errors, and use those measures to choose and evaluate improvements.
- Within your first three months, the team should have clearer priorities and ownership, a reliable view of open orders and inventory issues, and a small set of useful operating measures. You should have implemented several meaningful process improvements, trained the team to use them, and established a regular rhythm for coaching, checking adherence and reviewing results.
Qualification
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant operations, inventory, fulfillment or logistics experience in a physical-product business. We value the depth of your ownership and results more than an exact number of years.
- A strong track record of creating and implementing processes. You can share multiple examples of workflows you built or substantially improved, explain the problem and your decisions, and show how the team adopted the change and maintained it over time.
- Prior direct or indirect people-management experience. You have set others’ priorities, delegated work, trained or coached people, followed up on execution and held a team accountable for results. A formal manager title is not required; meaningful responsibility for other people’s work is.
- Strong attention to detail and organization. You notice mismatches, investigate causes, keep records current and close the loop on unfinished work.
- Hands-on understanding of receiving, inventory control, fulfillment and shipping, including coordinating vendors or logistics partners and keeping stock movements between locations organized and traceable.
- Confidence with spreadsheets and inventory/order-management or ERP systems. Shopify and shipping-platform experience is helpful.
- Clear communication and practical judgment when deadlines, staffing and available inventory compete for attention. You are comfortable both leading the operation and participating in the work.
- Experience in apparel, accessories, home goods, customization or another business with varied products and order requirements is especially relevant.
