Jumpstart
We match great people with top startups.
Responsibilities
- Growth on both sides of the marketplace. Market to startups and candidates alike, and keep the two in balance stream by stream.
- Positioning and brand. One brand and one story across candidates and startups, brought up to date with what we actually do today.
- Organic strategy. Launch new social channels, professionalise our content, drive our newsletters, and build SEO, GEO and AEO from scratch.
- A joined-up go-to-market. Connect events, partnerships, marketing and account management into one motion, for new and existing clients.
- Paid and conversion. Our performance marketer leads day to day; you set the direction and budget and challenge the results.
- The team. Three direct reports (performance, events and partnerships, content), plus shaping the next hires.
- Above all, you'll need to walk the walk AND talk the talk. With a small team, you'll be setting the strategy one minute and in the trenches the next: writing copy, launching campaigns, repositioning the website, and stepping in wherever we don't yet have the resource.
Qualification
- A hands-on Head of Marketing (£80-100k + EMI Options) who wants to work at a bootstrapped, profitable startup doubling YoY. You'd own marketing end to end, lead a team of three, and grow into our CMO.
- Watch Matthew, one of our founders, talk through the role: https://www.loom.com/share/f95c484b23e6442db96e89d2c079cb72
- London, hybrid (3 days a week in our new office near Bank)
- Recruitment sucks. Jumpstart makes it not suck.
- We help startups and scaleups hire exceptional talent, fast. Thousands of candidates apply every month; we handpick the top 1-2% and match them with hundreds of startups through our platform. We've helped place 1,500+ hires, across junior to senior GTM and operator roles.
- We've grown 100% year on year for the last two years, profitably, with no investors breathing down our necks. Startups love us. Candidates love us. And with AI, we think we can make hiring better by an order of magnitude.
- We've also built a team that's both highly competent and lovely.
- Growth needs a great product and great distribution. AI is making distribution matter more than ever: when anyone can build something quickly, the winners are the companies people hear about, trust and choose.
- It's grown up in silos. Candidate and startup marketing, paid and content, events and partnerships all run separately.
- Our positioning lags reality. Founders still see us as seed-stage only, junior-skewed or ex-consultant heavy, and candidates think we're a "grad programme". We're far beyond that now.
- It's been founder-led, by two co-founders without marketing backgrounds.
- We have no real social presence beyond founder LinkedIn.
- Our content is decent but not professional. It needs a proper strategy, standards and cadence.
- We've never invested in SEO, GEO or AEO, so we barely show up in Google or LLM answers.
- We need to take our positioning into new arenas, like senior hiring and new candidate streams.
- A senior marketing manager looking to take a step up / a Head of Marketing to come & influence the next version of Jumpstart.
- Startup marketing experience, ideally both B2B and B2C
- A track record of growing a brand, ideally a two-sided marketplace
- Strategy plus depth: you can set the plan and have real depth in a few areas, including a working grasp of SEO and GEO
- Commercially driven: you tie your work to booked calls, strong applicants and revenue, not just reach
- Always learning: you keep up with how marketing is changing and use AI to pick up new skills fast
- Management and leadership experience (Head of Marketing or similar)
- This is a foundational leadership role. You'll own marketing end to end, report directly to Matthew (co-founder), and we'd love to see you become our CMO.
Benefits
- £80-90k (some flex) + EMI options
- 30 days off (25 + winter break + birthday) + bank holidays
- Personal development budget and regular feedback
- Work from anywhere 3 weeks a year
- Vitality private health cover
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Free lunch Thursdays
- Worried you don't tick every box? Apply anyway and let us do the worrying.
