Company

About Jazz at Lincoln Center The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for Jazz through performance, education and advocacy. We believe that Jazz is a metaphor for Democracy. Because jazz is improvisational, it celebrates personal freedom and encourages individual expression. Because jazz is swinging, it dedicates that freedom to finding and maintaining common ground with others. Because jazz is rooted in the blues, it inspires us to face adversity with persistent optimism. With the world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and guest artists spanning genres and generations, Jazz at Lincoln Center produces thousands of performances, education programs, and broadcast events each season. Jazz at Lincoln Center is led by Managing and Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis, and Executive Director Greg Scholl.

Responsibilities

  • The Manager, Marketing independently manages the execution of Jazz at Lincoln Center's sales and marketing campaigns across Rose Theater, The Appel Room, Dizzy's Club, education programs, and related institutional initiatives. Within established campaign direction, this role owns the project management that moves each campaign from plan to launch, from timelines and asset trafficking to Tessitura/CRM builds, audience lists, digital execution, and public-facing materials. That work drives ticket sales, reservations, audience engagement, and visibility for JALC performances and programs.
  • The position works closely with the Assistant Directors of Marketing & Sales, the Email Marketing Specialist, and colleagues in Creative, Education, Programming, and the Box Office to manage assigned projects from planning through execution, making sure campaigns are organized, accurate, on time, and aligned with sales, marketing, and institutional priorities.
  • Lead assigned campaigns for the Mainstage Concert Season, Dizzy's Club, WeBop, Swing University, Jazz Congress, and other JALC programs, within campaign and channel direction set by the Assistant Directors of Marketing & Sales.
  • Own campaign timelines and deliverables, including asset needs, copy routing, approvals, and deployment.
  • Project manage email campaigns, including list pulls, routing, approvals, and final proofing, in partnership with the Email Marketing Specialist.
  • Execute assigned paid social and digital marketing campaigns, including campaign setup, audience targeting, asset deployment, monitoring, and performance reporting.
  • Manage assigned projects across Mainstage, Dizzy's Club, Education, and other JALC initiatives, keeping the Assistant Directors informed of status, risks, and results.
  • Manage day-to-day work with assigned marketing vendors, including asset submissions, campaign tracking, deadlines, reporting, and invoice processing.
  • Own assigned Tessitura/CRM builds for non-ticketed events, education programs, Dizzy's Club products, WeBop, Swing University, and other assigned programs, including setup, testing, accuracy, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Create, pull, and manage audience lists for marketing campaigns, audience targeting, and promotional efforts based on campaign direction from the Assistant Directors.
  • Use JALC's CRM and available audience data to develop targeted marketing lists and reports based on patron behavior, purchase history, and engagement.
  • Monitor CRM and event information for assigned programs, identifying and resolving discrepancies in dates, pricing, links, and campaign information.
  • Manage assigned marketing asset requests with the Creative team across digital, print, email, web, social, and on-site materials, from request through final delivery.
  • Coordinate the collection and organization of artist assets, including approved photos, bios, videos, copy, and other promotional materials.
  • Set and track asset deadlines and follow up on outstanding deliverables to keep assigned campaigns on schedule.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation for campaign assets, invoices, and project materials.
  • Manage assigned website updates, including event information, artist details, pricing, links, and other campaign-related content.
  • Coordinate the production and routing of the monthly calendar and other recurring marketing materials.
  • Proofread and quality check assigned public-facing assets, including website pages, advertisements, emails, social media posts, calendar listings, and printed materials.
  • Review copy for correct dates, times, venues, pricing, artist names, program details, links, and approved institutional language, raising questions or discrepancies with the appropriate Assistant Director.
  • Manage marketing coordination for assigned JALC touring activity, including touring schedules, marketing contacts, deadlines, and promotional requirements.
  • Coordinate the collection and distribution of approved JALC brand and marketing assets to presenting partners and other external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the day-to-day marketing contact for assigned touring needs, escalating strategic, brand, or contractual questions to the Assistant Directors or the Director, Sales.

Required

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in marketing, campaign coordination, or marketing project management.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage many moving pieces across campaigns, deadlines, and departments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Initiative, organization, and consistent follow-through on independently managed projects.
  • Strong project management skills and comfort working across multiple internal teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Careful proofreading and the ability to catch inconsistencies in dates, times, pricing, links, copy, and event information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfort working with databases, CRM systems, and digital marketing tools.
  • Availability to work select evenings, weekends, and off-site events as needed.
  • Curiosity about JALC's artists, programs, and mission, and a willingness to learn.
  • A collaborative, flexible, and service-oriented approach to working within a busy sales and marketing team.

Preferred

  • Experience in the performing arts or live events.
  • Prior experience with Tessitura.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of jazz.
  • The music is present here, literally and philosophically, and the people who thrive are the ones who feel that and lean into it. They are Fans, Advocates, Musicians, and Educators who know that you cannot shape what comes next without first honoring what came before — who ask why something is the way it is before they presume to know what it should become. They find their own work more meaningful because of its proximity to something larger, and they understand that excellence in any role, regardless of function, is connected to what happens on stage and in classrooms and communities around the world. The passion that runs through this organization can be felt on your first day, and it is the thing people miss most when they leave.
  • We are a live-events organization, and our schedule reflects that energy: we expect full presence when the work and the art call for it. Within that, we strive to create real flexibility for our people. Flex Mondays give staff the freedom to work from wherever suits them best, and Tuesday through Friday our teams come together in person, with the understanding that the work and the art will sometimes ask for more. We trust our people to know the difference, and we build around that trust.
  • Benefits reflect the same investment in our people: comprehensive health, retirement, and a seat inside the life of this organization. Staff have access to the breadth of JALC programming—from live performances to access at Dizzy's Club to world-class jazz education through Swing University and beyond—because we believe the people who do this work deserve to experience it, not just support it.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • Retirement plan
  • Access to live performances
  • Access to Dizzy's Club
  • Jazz education through Swing University
