Company
About Ecotricity We're Ecotricity, the world's first green energy supply company! Our electricity is 100% green – made from the sun and the wind. In just over 30 years we’ve built 24 wind parks and 3 sun parks all over the country. Ecotricity is the only energy company in the world certified as vegan by both The Vegan Society and Viva!, the vegan charity. As you’d expect, vegan energy is produced without involving animals. We’re proud that we’re a Which? Eco Provider for energy. The Which? Eco Provider endorsement is given to energy suppliers who make the greatest positive impact in generating renewable electricity, building new sources of green energy and helping the transition away from fossil fuels. What makes Ecotricity different from other energy companies is that we take the money we make from our customers’ bills and use it to build new forms of green energy. We call it Bills into Mills and it means that by paying your bill every month you’re helping fight climate change. Every new windmill or sun park we build reduces Britain’s reliance on fossil fuels to generate electricity.

Responsibilities
- Rainmaker is hiring a Software Engineer to own our production infrastructure and security.
- Your scope includes cloud infrastructure, deployments, observability, identity and access, secrets, vulnerability management, incident response, and recovery. You will build remote systems that work 24/7 and accommodate lost comms. Storms do not wait for business hours.
- Own production infrastructure end to end, setting the standards for how services get deployed, monitored, and recovered.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure for rapid agentic development.
- Balance rigor and security with the need for engineers to move quickly.
- Work across software, science, aircraft engineering, and field operations.
- You will understand all of Rainmaker's critical systems, data flows, access model, and largest operational and security risks and have shipped at least one material improvement. Within your first year, critical services will be easier to deploy, observe, secure, and recover. Software capabilities should scale faster than requisite operational effort.
Qualification
- A software engineer with experience building production infrastructure.
- Fast, thoughtful, autonomous, and opinionated.
- Willing to relocate to El Segundo, CA.
- Built and operated production systems. We care more about what you have shipped than your degree or years in the industry.
- Deep familiarity with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
- Managed secrets and credential lifecycles in a fast-moving environment.
- Designed or maintained zero-trust, WireGuard-based networks; we run almost everything on Tailscale.
