Company

About Ecotricity We're Ecotricity, the world's first green energy supply company! Our electricity is 100% green – made from the sun and the wind. In just over 30 years we’ve built 24 wind parks and 3 sun parks all over the country. Ecotricity is the only energy company in the world certified as vegan by both The Vegan Society and Viva!, the vegan charity. As you’d expect, vegan energy is produced without involving animals. We’re proud that we’re a Which? Eco Provider for energy. The Which? Eco Provider endorsement is given to energy suppliers who make the greatest positive impact in generating renewable electricity, building new sources of green energy and helping the transition away from fossil fuels. What makes Ecotricity different from other energy companies is that we take the money we make from our customers’ bills and use it to build new forms of green energy. We call it Bills into Mills and it means that by paying your bill every month you’re helping fight climate change. Every new windmill or sun park we build reduces Britain’s reliance on fossil fuels to generate electricity.

Responsibilities

  • We're looking for a Lead Product Designer to join Grata and help shape the next generation of products for dealmakers.
  • Grata has built a differentiated platform around proprietary data that our customers can't find anywhere else. Our design challenge is to make that data accessible, relevant, and digestible—helping users quickly find what matters, understand it, and act on it.
  • We're also bringing AI-powered workflows and agents into every aspect of the Grata experience, creating new opportunities to rethink how our users discover companies, conduct research, analyze information, and get work done.
  • Design has always been a core part of what differentiates Grata. Our customers value the product for being intuitive and thoughtfully designed in an industry where powerful software has historically meant complex software. As we build the next generation of Grata, we want to continue raising that bar.
  • You'll be the most senior individual contributor on our Product Design team, partnering closely with the Head of Design, Product, Engineering, and our customers to turn complex problems into simple, powerful experiences.
  • This is a hands-on role for a designer who is equally comfortable thinking strategically, conducting research, exploring new concepts, and sweating the details of a polished UI.
  • Own complex product initiatives from early discovery through launch and iteration.
  • Help define how AI workflows and agents become a natural, useful part of the Grata experience—not simply features layered onto existing workflows.
  • Design experiences that transform large amounts of proprietary and complex data into information users can easily discover, understand, and act on.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to define problems, explore opportunities, and shape product direction—not simply execute requirements.
  • Lead user research, customer interviews, usability testing, and other discovery activities to understand customer needs and validate solutions.
  • Translate complex workflows and information into clear, intuitive product experiences.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished production-ready UI in Figma.
  • Use AI and code-based prototyping tools to rapidly explore ideas, test interactions, and communicate product concepts.
  • Partner closely with engineers throughout implementation to ensure a high level of quality and polish.
  • Contribute to and help evolve our design system, interaction patterns, and overall product experience.
  • Provide thoughtful critique and mentorship to other designers and help raise the quality bar across the design team.
  • Help maintain and evolve the usability and visual quality that have made design an important part of Grata's product and brand.
  • Advocate for our customers and strong design practices across the broader product organization.
  • This position is based in our New York City office and follows a hybrid work model. Employees in this location are expected to work on-site a minimum of three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). Please note that specific business units or role requirements may necessitate additional in-office days based on team collaboration needs or operational priorities.
  • $118,800.00 - $207,200.00

Required

  • 7+ years of experience designing digital products, primarily within in-house product organizations.
  • A portfolio demonstrating excellent UX thinking, interaction design, and visual/UI craft across shipped products.
  • Experience independently leading complex projects from discovery through delivery.
  • Strong experience planning and conducting user research and usability testing and translating findings into product decisions.
  • Excellent Figma skills, including prototyping and working with design systems.
  • Experience using modern AI prototyping tools to explore and communicate product ideas.
  • Strong product thinking and an ability to balance customer, business, and technical considerations—not just the interface.
  • An ability to simplify complex information and workflows without sacrificing their underlying power.
  • Experience working closely with Product Managers and Engineers in an iterative product development environment.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to explain the reasoning behind design decisions.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort giving and receiving direct, thoughtful feedback.

Preferred

  • Experience designing complex B2B SaaS, financial technology, data-heavy products, or professional tools.
  • Experience designing AI-powered products, agents, or workflows.
  • Experience with code-based prototyping tools such as Figma Make, Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, v0, or similar.
  • Experience designing products that help users navigate, understand, or make decisions from large or complex datasets.
