Accelerate Capital Project Delivery with AI-Driven Scheduling Insights
Responsibilities
- You'll be Foresight's first dedicated designer, and you'll define how people build critical infrastructure with AI.
- Since 2018, Foresight has helped owners and contractors deliver some of the world's most demanding projects, pairing our platform with deep delivery expertise. Now we're reinventing what the product can do, building that expertise directly into the software. That means data sources, platform UI, action tooling and agents, built so an owner, a GC and a supplier can each see what matters and act on it.
- Nobody has designed this before. Construction software was built for record-keeping, not for steering a $2B project in real time. Agentic software for the physical world has almost no established patterns. You'll write them.
- You'll report to the Head of Product and work directly with founders, engineers, and the delivery experts who sit with customers every week. You'll set the bar for design at Foresight and, over time, help hire the people who raise it. For at least the first 6-12 months, this is a hands-on generalist role: you'll own research, interaction design, visual design and the design system yourself. As the team grows, you'll help hire and shape the next designers, with room to grow into leading the function if that's what you want.
- Lead discovery in the field. Sit with owner executives, project controls leads, GC planners and site teams. Find out where decisions actually get made, what a sponsor does when "something isn't right," and why a signed project never goes live. Turn that into clear problem framing the whole company can act on.
- Prototype in code to learn fast. Build working prototypes with real project data using React, Cursor, Claude Code or whatever gets you there quickest. Put them in front of customers in days, not quarters, without needing engineering time to do it.
- Design the human–agent loop. Decide what an agent should flag, draft or do on its own, and when it should ask a person. Make AI output trustworthy enough that an owner will use it to challenge a contractor.
- Design for many parties at once. Owners, GCs, trades, suppliers and investors all rely on the same project, and each needs something different from it. Executives want a confident read on portfolio health; project teams want tools that save them hours every week. Design experiences that give every party a reason to engage and move the whole project forward together.
- Ship end to end. Own key product areas from first conversation to production. Work side by side with engineers, and stay with it after launch to see what changed.
- Build the foundation. Create the design language, system and principles Foresight will scale on. Bring a visual and interaction bar that makes complex data feel calm and clear.
- You might be a fit if you
- Have 6+ years designing and shipping software, including complex B2B, data-heavy or enterprise products.
- Are excellent at discovery. You can run a messy customer conversation, spot the real problem under the stated one, and change product thinking with what you learn.
- Prototype in code as a practice. You build working things customers can test and validate without waiting on engineering, and you use AI coding tools daily.
- Have designed for AI or automation and have opinions on trust, explainability and when software should act on its own.
- Turn dense, ambiguous information into interfaces people understand in seconds.
- Have been an early or sole designer and liked it: setting standards, making calls without a playbook, doing the unglamorous work too.
- Hold strong opinions loosely and can bring engineers, sales and customers along.
- Care about the physical world getting built, and want your work to show up in steel and concrete.
- Enjoy designing for deep domain experts. Our users are schedulers, project controls leads and construction executives who know their craft and expect tools that respect it.
Qualification
Preferred
- You've worked in construction, energy, infrastructure, logistics or another industry where software meets the physical world.
- You've designed agent workflows that run in production.
- None of these are required. If the core of this role excites you, apply.
Benefits
- Real stakes, real customers. You won't be designing for a hypothetical market. Owners and contractors are building now, on deadlines measured in revenue per day.
- Blank canvas, solid ground. You get first-designer scope on a product that already has paying customers, real data and a deep bench of delivery expertise.
- Defining a category. Agentic software for physical infrastructure barely exists. The patterns you set will become the standard.
- Small, senior team. Flat, direct, low on process. We debate openly, decide quickly and ship.
- Total Comp: $200,000-230,000, based on experience, level, and location.
- Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO .
- Location: US-based required. New York preferred. Occasional travel to customer sites required.
