Company
About Real Chemistry 21GRAMS is the advertising and education arm of Real Chemistry. Ranked the #2 health agency in the world by Cannes Lions. More than a name, 21GRAMS is the philosophy that guides everything we do. Inspired by the “21 Grams Experiment” of 1907, which tried to prove the existence of a soul – we believe great work connects with the human spirit. So we get to know our audiences better than anyone (through the ancient art of human interaction and Real Chemistry’s industry-leading data and analytics) and find the 21 grams that makes people tick. Our goal? Make advertising less of an interruption – and more worth people’s time, attention, and action – because it actually “gets” them. Creatively, our mantra is “medicine should be more inspiring than sneakers”. We aren’t here just to do the best work in our industry, but the most inventive work period. That ability is heightened, as part of Real Chemistry. Interacting and combining unalike disciplines, talents, and technologies (across Clinical, Commercial, and Corporate) to create new answers to modern health’s biggest challenges.
Real Chemistry

Responsibilities
- Real Chemistry is looking for a Medical Copywriter to join our growing team!
- 21GRAMS, part of Real Chemistry, is a full-service healthcare advertising agency built on the belief that healthcare should feel more human. We combine bold creativity, strategic rigor, and deep scientific understanding to create work that changes behavior, improves outcomes, and makes a meaningful impact on people's lives. Our culture is grounded in collaboration, curiosity, and a shared commitment to doing exceptional work. We believe in being good to each other while pushing ourselves to deliver ideas that move audiences, brands, and healthcare forward.
- We’re looking for a Medical Copywriter who can bring together scientific fluency and creative instinct — someone who knows how to turn complex clinical information into clear, compelling, brand-building copy. This is not a traditional medical writer role. We’re looking for someone with healthcare advertising experience who can concept, collaborate, and write across a range of promotional and scientific materials while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and brand voice.
- The Medical Copywriter is responsible for developing medically sound, strategically sharp, and emotionally resonant copy across healthcare/pharma campaigns. This person will partner closely with Creative, Strategy, Account, Project Management, Editorial, and medical teams to bring ideas to life across multiple channels and deliverables.
- The ideal candidate understands how to translate science into stories, can move fluidly between promotional copy and scientific content, and has experience working in an agency environment where deadlines are fast, standards are high, and collaboration is key.
- This is a great opportunity for a writer who loves the challenge of making complex science feel human, relevant, and creatively powerful. You’ll work at the intersection of medical rigor and brand storytelling, helping shape work that is strategically grounded, emotionally intelligent, and deeply impactful.
- This role can be remote within the United States or based in any of our U.S. office locations, including New York City, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Lambertville or Carmel.
- Write for healthcare/pharma advertising campaigns across HCP, patient, caregiver, and DTC audiences
- Translate complex clinical data, mechanism of action, and product information into clear, engaging, on-brand messaging
- Develop copy for a wide range of deliverables, including websites, digital banners, emails, sales materials, patient education, videos, social, and other omnichannel assets
- Partner with an Art Director and broader creative team to develop integrated campaign concepts and executions
- Ensure all copy aligns with brand strategy, marketing objectives, tone of voice, and audience needs
- Work closely with Medical/Scientific leadership to ensure content is accurate, balanced, and compliant
- Participate in strategic planning, internal brainstorms, and client meetings as needed
- Present concepts internally and incorporate feedback thoughtfully and efficiently
- Review and refine copy throughout the agency process for clarity, grammar, consistency, and accuracy
- Collaborate with Editorial to resolve stylistic or grammatical concerns
- Build a strong understanding of assigned brands, disease states, competitors, and the evolving market landscape
- Proactively identify relevant medical, competitive, or regulatory updates that may impact messaging or tactical development
- Bring a solutions-oriented mindset to projects and contribute to the overall quality of the work
- Our Company values, Best Together, Impact Obsessed, Excellence Expected, Evolve Always, and Accountability with an "I", genuinely resonate with how you work and lead.
- You demonstrate the Real Chemistry Can mindset by approaching challenges with optimism, accountability, creativity, and a solutions-oriented attitude, always looking for ways to make a meaningful impact for our clients, colleagues, and communities.
- You are adaptable, resilient, and comfortable adjusting your scope, responsibilities, and priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment. As our business grows and changes, so do we.
- You are proactive, driven, and resourceful, with strong prioritization skills, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to leverage data to inform decisions and drive outcomes.
- You are energized by innovation and the transformative potential of AI, actively exploring new technologies, identifying opportunities to work smarter, and championing practical, responsible AI adoption that drives meaningful business impact.
- 2–4+ years of experience in healthcare/pharma advertising, medical communications, or a closely related agency environment
- Experience writing within regulated categories, ideally with exposure to HCP and/or DTC promotional work
- Strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, copywriting craft, and brand voice development
- Ability to balance creativity and scientific accuracy
- Comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams including Creative, Account, PM, Editorial, and Medical
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common research tools/platforms
- Knowledge of or strong interest in science, medicine, and healthcare marketing
- Experience working across multiple products or disease states
- Familiarity with MLR/regulatory review processes
- Ability to contribute to both promotional initiatives and scientific communications
- Curiosity about innovation in healthcare, audience behavior, and emerging creative formats

- At Real Chemistry, we believe we're at our best when we're connected. Our Real Hybrid and Regional Teams (Real HART) approach is designed to foster collaboration, learning, innovation, and meaningful relationships while providing flexibility where appropriate. Because our workforce spans multiple countries, regions, and client needs, work arrangements may vary by role and location. Some positions offer hybrid or remote flexibility, while others require regular in-office presence. Your recruiter will discuss the specific expectations for the role you're pursuing during the interview process and keep you informed throughout the hiring journey. For employees located within a one-hour commute of a Real Chemistry office, we require in-person attendance two days per week, either from a Real Chemistry office or when working onsite with clients. Employees in regions without a nearby office may work remotely and come together throughout the year for collaboration, culture-building, learning, and team connection opportunities. While these guidelines reflect our current workplace model, we understand that everyone’s circumstances are unique. If you require additional flexibility, we welcome an open conversation with your recruiter and our HR team to discuss your needs and determine what may be possible.
